| I wonder if anyone can tell me the way round these issues... I purchased Terrabuilder Moon today and have discovered that even in the most barren areas of the Moon, my frame rates are significantly lower than when running normal Flight Simulator - they never go above about 20 fps whereas normal Flight Sim gets me 40 fps with full autogen. When I'm near a base obviously they drop even lower. The other issue is a strange blue landscape in the distance, all around the horizon, like the terrain textures are not painted on properly. I can send a screen shot if it helps.

I am not sure about the frame rates... This may depend on any of the add-ons for FS9 that you may have installed previously. As you may expect, it would be very difficult to test all the possible add-on combinations of FS9. All of our rigs run fairly clean FS9 installs and the frame rates are between 30-60.
Can you tell me what add-ons you are running? Do you have the updated F9 version? Are you running XP or Vista?
The blue polys in the distance are a known issue which depends on the video hardware. One (and only one) of our test rigs has that issue, and it runs a beefy 512Mb ATI Video card. Other rigs with ATIs (256Mb versions) don't have that issue. We've been hoping that this was unique to that rig, and you're the first user to observe this as well. We'll look into this issue - it may be a simple ATI driver upgrade.

Thanks for the prompt reply Misha, a few more details... My video card is an Nvidia 8800 GTS, but it is not running the most recent drivers, so I'll try updating them and see what happens. It's a fairly powerful card generally. I am running Windows XP, the add ons I have for Flight Sim normally are Active Camera, FS Passengers (which I wasn't using), FSDiscover (which I also wasn't using as there are no landmarks on the moon!) and for normal FS I have Flight Environment and Ground Environment but since their textures are not used in the Moon set I don't think they can be a problem. I have since discovered a couple more oddities - the Map screen shows the normal Earth - surely that's not right? Also, the review at Flightsim.com shows pictures from the learning center with stuff about the Moon replacing the normal learning center material, however that is not showing up for me. I'm also getting some sounds appearing in flight which are NOT in the Moonhopper sound files - a sort of "whup, whup" noise from time to time.

| Uh oh, I think the installation and/or the mode switching has somewhere gone awry. You should DEFINITELY be getting the learning center stuff, and the globe of the moon when zoomed out (that's what you mean, right?)
During installation, did you receive any messages? Also, during mode switch, were there any warnings?
Next, would you mind going to the FS9 root directory and locating and sending me "TBMLog.txt" file (if it exists - if it doesn't then never mind. It gets created only if there is something wrong)
Finally, can you take a screenshot of your FS9 directory, main level only? I'd like to see if all the components are in place.

| I too see those distracting blue polys in the distance on the horizon - worse the higher the altitude.
There is no TBMLog.txt in FS9 root so I'm assuming the installation is okay.

| Yeah - seems to be the hardware issue. Try updating to the latest version - the user above who reported it said it helped a bit but not entirely.
We're not seeing this in FSX, btw... (on our beta TBM for FSX)
no TBMLog.txt? Are you running Vista? it should have produced it even if everything went fine...

Do you have the latest version downloaded and installed? It should be 1.00.03, December 11th 2007.

| The newest version did not fix the blue polys (that seems to be the hardware issue) but you should now be getting TBMLog.txt

| Hi guys It may be stating the obvious but I too experienced blue distant textures until I checked "Extended terrain textures" in Settings/display/scenery. After that all was fine. Using nvidia GeForce 7800GS. Best of luck.

| That does the trick, but not all the way... There is still a sliver of blue far in the distance. We're still hacking away at this. Again, this is not happening on all hardware setups.

| I also have the blue horizon. I have an ATI X1650 512 mgb card.I updated my drivers last week. ( 2-21-08) Any other ideas ? Also , I originally came here because no matter what I do , the moon hopper leans left. I'm using a Ch Products yoke, and rudder pedals. I have the FS Genesis Meshes, with land class files; and several MegaCity scenery add ons. I have add on aircraft from Aerosoft,Shockwave,MAAM, Alpha,FSD,And Caranedo, none of which, should be causing the lean. This installation of FS2004,and XP is two weeks old, can't get too much cleaner... Did some major hardware changes and reinstalled a lot. I have an ELITEGROUP 755-A2 motherboard, an AMD 64 3000+ dual core cpu, 2 gb of ram, and three Maxtor hard drives, totalling 950 gigabytes of room. I'm running XP, with SP2. I do not have this problem in FSX, FS 2004, or in Golden Wings. So far, I seem to have thrown $70 away. This is very dissappointing, I was really looking forward to Terra Builder Moon, the reviews were so good...

| Ok, my bad. The moon hopper is just not a hands off craft. it is a bit touchier than a chopper, but flyable. PRACTICE,PRACTICE, PRACTICE !! The extended terrain textures trick helped the blue rim immensely, almost gone completely... Sorry about the snit... LOL Sue ;-)

| Fair enough, Sue :)
Another VERY important tip is to set ALL of the realism to the simplest settings. This will turn off all of the effects associated with helicopter gyroscopic forces, which rocket engines don't suffer from, as there are no rotating parts, except small fuel pumps whose moments of inertia are negligible.
This "tip" has actually been omitted from being mentioned anywhere in the setup or instructions, and we'll make sure that in the next release we adjust these settings by default and avoid users having control problems.

| "I too experienced blue distant textures until I checked "Extended terrain textures""
That was one of my first thoughts when I first spotted the blue polys. I have "Extended terrain textures" checked in FS9 and it remains checked in TBMoon so that's not the answer for my (PCI-E)Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB (Catalyst 7.10 WHQL). Pity.
